We can't believe it's March 2017 already. It's been 6 years since we filmed The Backyard Philly Project, and about this time of year we were just getting into the heart of our interviews with the stories of four amazing teenagers who opened our eyes to our own backyard. Our team is discussing a 6 year reunion get together with David, Tasia, Montae and Brianna and see where life has taken them.
Over the past couple of years, this film has been used in a university curriculum, high schools, social gatherings, film festivals, private screenings and more. It's also streaming on Amazon Prime.
Our Ferasha Films crew is also going through some restructuring. As you know, we give up ALL of our free time to do this, filmmaking. We love absolutely love filmmaking, but currently our lives have really moved us into different directions. My husband and I now have 4 year old twins, and our primary focus is bringing them up in the world. Nienke is living up North in Canada and is running a wedding photography business. Bruce and his wife are expecting a baby this summer. Brendan is living up life in Philadelphia and playing music gigs (follow him on Instagram @patchesandpins to see him in concert sometime). Lucas.... well, we all know that he is the REAL Waldo (our Instagram has proof that he IS Waldo) and we can never find him. Life has really taken us in a lot of different directions. Sooooo.... while we make plans to film a short 5-year reunion video this summer --- we also have other plans to keep the stories coming!
We are looking for filmmakers who want to create films that align with our mission, vision and passion. If you're a filmmaker or you know a filmmaker who needs a fundraising platform, we're your guys. We want someone to keep our non-profit film organization alive. We'll help you raise funds, run your admin, and connect you to some awesome filmmakers we know. Or perhaps you are already an awesome filmmaker and don't need connections, but you need us to help you raise funds, write grants, etc. If you're interested, we have a filmmaker application and would love to chat with you about your project. You would have full control over your project, and we would be there for you in any way that you need us. We want to see important stories get told, and we want the torch to get passed on. So, if you're interested, we hope you will consider applying soon. There are so many stories to be told, and we want to help those stories be told.
