It's that time of year again when we give you our big year in review! 2014 was awesome, and we are so glad you joined us on an fun adventure recutting The Backyard Philly Project. For those of you who don't know, in 2013 we won Best Feature and Best Documentary at the Greater Lehigh Valley Filmmaker's Festival where we met with Filmmaker and Editor on Glee, Ishai Setton. Ishai encouraged us to recut Backyard Philly to help us gain a wider audience. And so, in December 2013 we went back to editing the film again! With some obstacles during the winter months, we finally were satisfied with the way the recut was going. We teamed up with Blair Brother's Music, based in Philadelphia, and they helped us with some custom soundtracks. We then premiered our recut to an audience of 200 people in October 2014. The response of our recut has been really great, and we're glad we've been able to get a few public and private screenings before 2014 went away.
While all the fun of recutting was happening, in May 2014, Lehigh Valley Business honored Amanda Danziger as a "Woman to Watch" at their Women of Influence awards. A special honor granted to only one person under the age of thirty. We're happy that the word of Ferasha Films has finally reached Amanda's hometown, and we're glad that the work we do is starting to get known!
While we were working on the recut, we were finishing up our second biggest project: finishing our non-profit paperwork! We worked along side two fantastic lawyers, Stephanie Sikora and D. Keith Brown at Stuckert and Yates in Newtown, PA. They are phenomenal team, and they submitted our official paperwork this past summer. We highly recommend them if you ever need help setting up a non-profit!
During all the non-profit paperwork process we held our first Board Meeting this past Summer. We are excited to share the names of those on our board:
- Stephen Ferrell, VP Quality Solutions, Health & Life Sciences at Sidus BioData
- George Mowrer, Partner at HMK Insurance
- Betsy Mowrer, Former Executive Director of R.K. Laros Foundation
- Ariel Danziger, Coordinated Health
A big thanks to the four people mentioned above, we are extremely happy to have you on board! And we are extremely excited to see what the future holds!
As we enter 2015, we are patiently awaiting our non-profit approval, and if all goes well, we will be an official 501(c)3 organization! Thanks for all your support during our Backyard Philly Years! We've worked on this specific documentary since 2012, and we are glad we could travel this road with you and complete it alongside of you. Many of you have been an amazing support to us, and we wouldn't be where we are today without you.
So what happen's next? We've been researching a few stories to do in the future, and we plan on launching an application process on our website for those looking to have us tell your story. So stay tuned for the application coming soon! Thank you for a great 2014!
